Day 2- Total tourist!

Today was Saturday, because all the offices were closed we were able to see some sites. We first went to Monserete. It is a church that is built on one of the mountains here. We got a taxi and had a fun trip riding with these crazy drivers and having 4 kids and 2 adults in the back of these tiny taxis. We had to go up some hills to get to the mountain and it was really funny, because the car was having to work hard to get up them. Once we got there, we had to take a train to get to the top of the mountain. The train was very interesting, because it was so STEEP up the side of the mountain and so the train had to be built for the slant. It was fine going up, but on the way down it kinds of felt like falling, which I'm not a big fan of. It wasn't too bad though. Once we got to the top, we saw statues of Christ's crucifiction and their was a mass going on in the church. It of course was in spanish, but when they were singing I recognized one of the songs. We were also able to look down on the city and that was amazing to see, because it is so HUGE! It was so cool to see and because it had rained the day before a little there wasn't too much smog down there.

The kids at the wishing well, making wishes.

After we finished there we went back to the apartment and let the kids rest a little. Then Rachel, Daniela, Wompy, and I went shopping to suvioners. It was really nice, because I was expecting people there begging me to buy their things, but this was a nice market with just tables and people there to help you, not sell things to you. I of course bought a ton and I am wondering how we will get it home. Luckily I brought a lot of cereal and other things that I won't be bringing back.

For dinner I made the kids Jello and they seemed to really enjoy it. I am not sure if they have had it before or not, but they loved it. Brian also made a smoothie with papaya. It was really good, especailly since one of my favorite fruits is papaya and I have missed having it since living on the mainland.

That was pretty much our day. The kids seemed to have fun and were pretty good running around with us.
